THE NOT-TOO-DISTANT FUTURE

It's time to have fun with the ever-increasing pace of technological change in our lives. The time is... one entire year from today. The way we are born, communicate, love, listen to music and die is utterly unrecognizable from 2009. In fact, the way we do all these things at the beginning of the movie is unrecognizable from how we do it at the end. JOHNY5 is 15 going on 50 going on 5... and thinking about retirement. His despondency about the present/future and aching nostalgia for the way things used to be... in 2006... drives him to the edge of self-annihilation, where he meets ELIZABETH, a generation older than him at 20 but young enough to help him see that there is still hope for them both if they can just hold on until... next week.

"The future is so five minutes ago."

Intriguing...I love these daily posts of yours. I'm currently at University in Wales, UK doing a module on Screenwriting and I wish I could come up with premises with the pace at which you do. Good work.

Thanks for the kind words Daniel! Until I began this project I had no idea I could handle this pace either... There's something to be said for setting aside 30 minutes a day for guided creativity time... How wonderful to be studying screenwriting at university... the film theory course I took at UNC-CH really opened my eyes to the inner workings of film and help set me off on a career trajectory I might not otherwise have pursued. If you ever want feedback on a logline of your own, feel free to Direct Message it to me on Twitter.

Cheers!

It's like Benjamin Button meets Matrix with a touch of Code 46.

Oooh.. I'd forgotten about CODE 46 (kinda came and went, dinnit?). Good rental?

I was hoping for lots of absurdist laughs too... maybe a funnier BRAZIL?

Speakin of Brazil, it reminds me of Chris Marker's La Jetee, in a lo-fi, time-traveling, star-crossed lovers sort of way. . .
